Arizona Jan Brewer can veto immigration hate bill, please sign petition!

The Republican Arizona legislature has passed a bill that will make it 'illegal' to be illegal.

In short, the law requires law local enforcement to detain all undocumented workers they contact and hold them for ICE pick-up and deportation.  The law will make it nearly impossible for a person who is a victim of a crime to seek help from local police.

Please help us tell Governor Jan Brewer to veto this bill.  Attached is a petition I ask you to sign.

We are at the dawn of comprehensive immigration reform.  We need your help to pass rational immigration laws.  The solution is not to intimidate an entire population of poor people.  Rather, let's look for a comprehensive plan to strengthen the boarder and help millions of people come into compliance with the law.

Child pornographer framed family friend to steal his wife! Beware who U let use your computer, Ilkka

Ilkka Karttunen was in love with the wife of his co-worker.  He just had to computer theif have her but there was a little problem….she was married and no divorce was pending.  Nor had she made any indication of an interest in Ilkka.  Ilkka was obsessed.  How could he get rid of the husband and then make his play to romance the object of his obsession?

Engineers have their ways.  Some of them have balls, too.  The Finnish engineer, who had lived in Brittan for 15 years, broke into his co-workers home.  The co-worker and her husband were sound asleep upstairs.

Ilkka went right to work on the family computer that was down stairs.  Using a memory stick, he down loaded pictures of child pornography onto the family computer.  Then he copied the entire disk drive of the computer onto his memory stick.

Next step?  Ilkka sent a copy of the computer drive with a lovely note from an anonymous source advising the police of the illegal activities of the husband of his co-worker.

The police responded.  The husband of Ilkka's co-worker was arrested on suspicion of possession of indecent images of children.  The husband was excluded from the family home and was not able to see his children.  He was suspended from his job at work, as they didn’t want a child pornographer in the house.  Let’s just say he was an innocent unhappy camper.

Ilkka’s plan went on for four months.  The prosecutor said it had been carried out with great skill.  However, when Ilkka went to his co-workers home un-announced, suspicions arose.  The investigation turned a small corner.

Police searched Ilkka’s home and found a computer in the garden shed.  The memory stick had also been connected to Ilkka’s computer.

There was a picture of a calendar upon which the co-workers husband had written the time and date of his work schedule.  There were also pictures of family photographs, bank and credit card statements, and a picture of one of the children’s bedrooms.

Some of this information Ilkka collected while no one was home.  Apparently he had a key to the house!  After all, unbeknownst to anyone, he planned to move in!  Some of the information was collected using a bugging device which was planted in the victim’s home.

After 4 months, the poor chap who had originally been accused was exonerated and allowed to return to his home.  He was traumatized and suffered the disrespect of those in the community.

Ilkka Karttunen was charged with possession of indecent images of children and harassment and perverting the course of justice.   That is an English way of saying he lied to police officers and claimed he was innocent when he was guilty as holly hell!  The Sun Times has the story.

“This had a devastating effect on the family as he was given no access to his young children or his home while he was under investigation and he had to live with the trauma of being accused of crimes against young children, of which he is wholly innocent,” said Suzanne Stringer, of the Crown Prosecution Service. '

Ilkka Karttunen, who lives in Essex in the Southeast of England, will have a new address.  He was found guilty at trial. Now he gets to defend his ass for 54 months in prison.  I bet he counts every day he remains a virgin.  Although Ilkka is an engineer and capable of doing complicated mathematical calculations, I doubt he will need to count very far.

Keep your computer secure.  Mine was recently hacked and adult images placed on my Rescue Children At Risk blog.  I have not decided whether to take the images down or leave them as testament to the sick minds of people like Ilkka Karttunen.

Undocumented immigrants advised to leave Arizona Law makes police harassment certain, RIFA and CIR around the corner

Arizona has just passed the most vicious piece of legislation in the United States on the heels of appeals by immigration activists for the passage of fair immigration laws.  Reform Immigration For America (RIFA) brings together a wide range of immigrants rights groups appealing for long needed reforms in immigration laws.

Republican Governor Jan Brewer

JanBrewer

Meanwhile, Arizona’s new law makes life in that state difficult, if not dangerous for those who would like to adjust their status and come into compliance with the law.  The new law makes it illegal to be an illegal immigrant.

While crossing the border may be an illegal act, mere presence in the U.S. without documentation is a civil matter, not a criminal matter.  Hence, the term ‘illegal immigrant’ is not descriptive of an undocumented worker’s true status.  Once the person is here he is legal from a criminal point of view.  His presence may violate administrative statutes, however.

Exceptions exist for those who have been deported and then return.  They are the true “illegal immigrants” and can be sent to prison for up to 10 years for illegal re-entry.  However, most undocumented immigrants are in violation of civil and administrative statutes not criminal statues.

224172-Arizona-State-Trooper_view

The new Arizona law changes all of that.  The law makes it illegal to be undocumented and in the state of Arizona.  It allows law enforcement to stop any person they suspect is an ‘illegal immigrant’.  If the person is illegal by Arizona’s definition, then the person will be arrested and taken to immigration detention.  Arizona may also impose criminal sanctions on the person including jail time.

The law turns local police into immigration enforcement officers thereby over-taxing the police force.  It also makes approaching Arizona state and local police departments after being a victim of crime very risky.  An undocumented worker who reports being assaulted or robbed will likely find himself in deportation proceedings while the crook goes free!

The Arizona law will soon make its way to the desk of Republican Governor Governor Jan Brewer.

Brewer is expected to sign the law turning every undocumented worker into a criminal.  Alipac an extreme right wing, Republican supported, political action committee claims credit for passage of this vicious legislation that preys on unfortunate people.

Undocumented workers who are waiting for Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR) proposed by Democratic senator Luis Gutierrez are advised to immediately leave Arizona pending passage of the bill.  It would be sad to be placed in deportation proceedings on the dawn of the reforms supported by RIFA, Majority Leader Harry Reid and others.

Bill to strengthen border, CIR ready, your support critical

Some of us have been waiting for this for nearly 20 years.  Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR) that protects the nation’s borders yet props up an expected “labor deficit” as the baby boomers, looking for happy retirement, leave the labor force.  It is expected many US citizens will be encouraged to step up into the higher skill level jobs leaving a massive hole that will have to be filled by those willing to start from the bottom.  We look to our immigrant community to do that.

The first matter addressed by the bill is propping up the nation’s borders:

Comprehensive Immigration Reform for
America’s Security and Prosperity
(CIR ASAP) Act of 2009

TITLE I – BORDER SECURITY, DETENTION, AND ENFORCEMENT

Subtitle A – Border Security:
Protecting Our Borders: This subtitle protects United States border cities and communities from violence and crime along the U.S.-Mexico border by:
  • Creating a Southern Border Security Task Force that is composed of federal, state, and local law enforcement  officers
  • Requiring a security plan for land ports of entry at the borders involved in international trade
  • Expanding the programs under the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism that is in accordance to the SAFE Port Act

  • Improving the exchange of information between federal agencies on North American Security by a conducting a targeted study of security clearance standards, document integrity, immigration and visa management and coordination, terrorist watch lists and smuggling operations”
coast guard Comprehensive Immigration Reform immediately addresses border security, a sore point with conservatives.  CIR is designed to be comprehensive, to address both sides of the immigration problem.  Without reform the broken immigration system and porous border will continue.  Protecting against terrorist attack is more difficult.

What conservatives are upset about is CIR also addresses problems with immigration.  They prefer to keep the border porous rather than work on a solution that address the entire immigration problem.  While piecemeal programs have been put into place, it is a patchwork of laws used to put band aids on immigration issues, without looking at the problem from a broad view.  For example, we finally have a farm guest worker program in which migrant workers can enter the U.S., work in the fields and then return to their homes in Mexico and points South.  That has keep food prices from going through the roof.

Unfortunately, as each state varies on it’s immigration policies some states are down-right hostile to those from another country. Colorado is so hostile to undocumented workers many documented workers avoid the state if they possibly can.  They don’t want to suffer harassment that comes when law enforcement can’t tell the documented worker from the undocumented worker.  Hence, greeting visitors Colorado continues to fight for enough labor to get it’s crops out of the fields in time.

The situation has been so dire, Colorado started a convict labor program, paying convicts .60 an hour and charging the farmers more than they would have to pay for migrant workers.

We have millions of children of undocumented workers who want their chance at an education.  The opportunity to grow one’s mind and improve oneself has always been a corner-stone of the democratic system.  When I was a kid studying history the point was slammed home many times:  A democracy depends upon educated citizens.  If we are to have an educated society access to schools must be available to everyone.   The Dream Act will surely be part of comprehensive immigration reform.

The United States has prided itself on it’s human rights record.  We treat all people fairly, allowing each a chance to make his case with the judge.

President Bush changed all of that when he started incarcerating prisoners in Guantanamo bay.  The prisoner disappeared with no means of communication to the outside world.  He had no access to an attorney, never appeared in front of a judge, so he just sat, a non-person.  While the US does not participate in torture, we do strap people to a board, cover their mouths with a wet cloth and pour water down their throats so they feel like they are drowning.  “Water-boarding is not torture”  Vice President Cheney under the Bush administration insisted.

These are the kinds of things that happen in third world countries.  It is a travesty of justice it happened in a US naval base.  The president of the United States, Barak Obama, has worked towards ending this kind of evil treatment.

on the border What does the Guantanamo Bay incident have to do with immigration reform?  Like the Guantanamo prisoners, a person who appears in front of an immigration judge does not necessarily get to see the evidence the government has against him.  In some cases, it takes a Freedom of Information Act filing to compel the government to disclose information called ‘discovery’ which in every other legal proceeding in the land is required.   Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR) may address some of these issues.

CIR will help protect the sovereignty of the nation while insuring those who are here get a fair shake.  We are a nation of the ‘fair shake’.  Most of us have a sense of decency.  The problem is, conservative media has tainted our view of the fair shake.  They are prepared to trash border security just to say they won on immigration issues.  Once US citizens get the true facts, I am sure they will make wise decisions.
Photos compliments of fotosearch
child crying We are all wondering what happened to Mark Udall in this discussion.  Udall is angering a large segment of his Democratic base which may ice future political efforts.

When a senator is unwilling to take a position on tough issues then one must wonder if he is the right man for the office.  His next effort in the political arena could meet with opposition.  One thing is clear, the Pro-immigration, pro-border security CIR movement is non-partisan.  It will vote for the Democrat or Republican that is willing to tackle this tough matter.  This is a peaceful movement but it is a movement that votes.

We urge you to call his office immediately and ask him to support CIR or ask him why he is not supporting CIR.  Really, Really, Believe Me, your call will count!  877-768-3255.

Why not keep up to date with the latest changes in the battle for basic human rights in a broken immigration system?  Sign up, suit up, let’s make change for America!

April fools day has always been a day for college campus newspapers to spoof student body, and catch the public JEFFE OTTE unwary, all to say later, “April Fools”!  Over the years authors of the annual spoof have learned to tread lightly when it comes to discriminatory slurs.

Jeff Otte

Jeff Otte, who writes for the Advocate, the campus rag of the University of Colorado at Denver, smears his dirty thumb into the wounds of the sensitive culture of undocumented workers.  His skillful use of double entendre’s may let him get by with hateful words legally.  His skillful ignorance, on the other hand, wins him no fans with the Hispanic student body and those who despise hate speech where-ever they see it.

“Wait till you see the high taxes that OSAMACARE is going to get us and good luck paying them when you don't have a job that all the MEXICANS are taking see how much you “save” on “healthcare” then.”

So states Jeff Otte in his article titled “Enjoy obamacare if you like payin for illegal mexicans”.

Otte might better be known as “Otte-naught”, as in, this is one guy

you ought-naught have on your editorial staff.  His absolute lack of judgment will lose you readership,  assuming his writing qualifies as legal speech to begin with.  Yes, there is illegal speech, especially when it comes from a publication which is construed as being the voice of a state college.

Apparently, Mr... Naught was using ‘sarcasm’ while playing the role of an ignorant fool lamenting passage of the health care bill.  After carefully hammering Muslims, Jeff launches into a series of ugly and derogatory slurs against those who come here from a foreign land, namely Mexico.

I get the professed ignorant reference to ‘amnesty’ as an April fools joke.  Right wing opponents want to call proposed immigration reform “amnesty”.   The truth is, the proposed legislation marginally advances the interests of undocumented workers while strongly advancing border protection and enforcement measures.  That is hardly amnesty.

I get the amnesty joke, Otte puts the bamboo under the finger nail with his continual manipulation of words.

"Ternment wants you to think there not going to do it (amnesty) but they are you watch. You’ll be able to tell by the UNEMPLOYMENT LINES because tell be stretching AROUND THE BLOCK after the Mexicans take all our jobs.”

The word “Mexican” is used by a proud people from a spectacular and wealthy country south of the border.  It has also been used as a racial slur, usually when the words “dirty little” are placed before it.  Otte manipulates the word as he dances it’s meaning from “Mexican”  (national)  to the insinuated   “dirty little” variety.  One cannot say he is using the word as a racial slur because Otte also refers to undocumented workers in the sense of “Mexican Nationals”.  That is pretty clever or pretty ignorant.

Not happy

Otte was wise enough to avoid discriminatory language based upon race which has landed editorial staff of other college papers in hot water.  However, “Ott-naught” falls into the same trap many  other Americans fall into.  While one may complain about undocumented workers, who by chance, are fighting for their rights in Las Vegas, Nevada, this weekend, April 10th, 2010, one cannot discriminate based upon national origin.  The protected classes are race, creed, sex, age, in some cases sexual orientation, and always national origin.

Using derogatory slurs against someone because they are from Mexico is against the law when that speech comes from a governmental entity.  While you can report on the news a “Mexican National shot a police officer in Denver, Colorado”, you can’t say the “Dirty little Mexican got away”.  Can’t do it Vern.  Don’t go there.  The Advocate goes there by using the term “Mexican” as if it had the racial slur attached, but it is hard to tell.

We are now being told Otte was using sarcasm, not humor, to spoof red-neck fuckers (is ‘fuckers’ protected as free speech?) who are wholly misinformed about immigration issues and the plight of poor people in America.

The ones who come off as total idiots in the spoof are Otte and the editorial staff of the Advocate.  Before the biting sting of hateful words and a slap in the face wore off, Advocate editorial staff issued a statement defending their right to speak out based upon the Constitution they just violated.             This is a learning opportunity

“Our publication exercises the right to free speech…protected under court precedent for the freedom of the press, particularly regarding satire”

Satirical speech is protected under the Constitution, hateful speech is not.

     The editorial response continues:

“As we have exercised this right, we encourage other students to use it as well, as they will in this protest Monday”

Translation?  We if-up big time but we are not about to admit it.  Then the staff goes on the offensive, a tactic of a guilty mind.

“Students and other Advocate readers have posted intimidating and threatening comments in response to the story…threatening a news reporter—one who has consistently written columns and stories promoting the rights of the groups he is now said to have injured—does not promote safety or unity on this campus”

Threats, of course, are inappropriate.  However, I doubt there were tangible threats.  On the other hand, when you write the kind of trash Otte-Naught wrote, what do you expect?

Then the Editorial Staff says:

“The Advocate's staff view removing newspaper and threats to news writers as acts of censorship. Removing papers both deprives Advocate staff of their First Amendment freedoms and Auraria campus students of their right to read their campus newspaper. And threatening a news reporter—one who has consistently written columns and stories promoting the rights of the groups he is now said to have injured—does not promote safety or unity on this campus.”

I Just don’t get it.  These bone-heads need to censor themselves.  They don’t have a clue what is offensive and what is funny.  This comes at a time when the is negative press about undocumented workers and immigration reform.  RIFA Reform Immigration For America, is making huge headway for immigration reform.  This kind of garbage helps naught!  In fact, Colorado CIRC, Colorado Immigrants Rights Coalition is busy with it’s Welcome to Colorado program.  The plan is to counter this kind of rot-gut and help us identify with undocumented immigrants by thinking about our own roots and our gradfathers who came here as immigrants.

I go along with student demands to terminate the executive editor of the Advocate.  She refuses to remedy a mistake in the paper.  This kind of irresponsibility leads to student division, possible lawsuits and is against the schools mission to integrate the diverse student body.

Students march on campus to protest.  Certainly, some of these same students will be thinking about the hate speech from the UCD April Fools issue of the Advocate when they march in the Rally called the Manifestion massiva and hosted by RIFA In Las Vegas, Nevada, Saturday, April 10th at 12:00!

Arizona Rancher Bob Krentz assassinated, Politico Kay Granger has an orgasm, reckless media jumps to conclusions, truth comes out

In the deep South in the old days, anytime a prominent person was murdered or a white woman raped the fingers pointed to the old scape-goat.  We blamed African Americans for a lot of things in those days.  A lynch mob was formed and a white guy got away with murder or rape.  Who knows if a legal citizen is getting away with murdering a wealthy Arizona rancher, Robert krentz.  Governors jan Brewer of Arizona and New Mexico Bob Richardson panic, and Texas Rep. Kay Granger has an orgasm.

The scape-goat scenario is the same in Arizona as it is in the deep South, although the actors have changed a bit.  Now it is an ‘illegal alien’ who did the dirty deed.

News reports all over the country are using a buzz word that means hate to describe the death.  “An illegal alien probably did it!”.

Some reporters use a bit more caution, “An illegal alien allegedly did it” and still others, namely conservative Fox News which would like to see immigration reform gutted, says an illegal alien did do it, or words to that effect.

Kimberly Dvorak from Red Country says “Arizona Rancher Murdered by Illegal Immigrant Who Flees To Mexico”  but she quickly backs off after using the hate word to grab headlines.  In the body of the article she adds the word “allegedly”.

Here is what the theory of the case is:

A

lone “Illegal Alien” walks 20 miles into Bob Krentz’s ranch along the U.S. Mexico border. Without provocation, he takes out his trusty six shooter and shoots the rancher. Then he puts on his Nike’s and races back to Mexico. Meanwhile, the border patrol with a dog team and surely with pursuit vehicles and helicopters no doubt, are hot on his heels. Surprise surprise, one guy on foot hoofs it 20 miles back to Mexico before the team can catch him. Give me a break!

An old saying in law is, “If it does not make sense he probably didn’t do it!'”

This scenario does not make sense for a variety of reasons:

1.  “Illegal aliens” meaning the guys who come here to do work, don’t carry guns.  Mexico’s Constitution does not provide for possession of fire arms.  Unless you have a ton of dough you better not be packing a pistol.  If you do have  a ton of dough why hike through some of the roughest terrain on the border?

2.  “Illegal Aliens” don’t usually come alone.  There is safety in numbers.  Most don’t know the least guarded routes, how to get around the drones, listening devices, motion detectors, fences and the lot, so they hire a “Coyote”.  Yet this killer was all by himself on a path taken by over 80,000 people last year.  That is 219 people a day using the same route.  This guy was alone?  There were no witnesses?

3.  Why would someone shoot Mr.... Krentz for no reason?  Does not make sense.

4.  There have been no reports of tracks into the ranch, just tracks out to Mexico.  How did this ‘illegal alien’ get to the ranch?   Most people use the bridge to go home.  Why risk his life going the wrong way?

My theory of the case:"

Bob Krentz was targeted for murder.  It might have been by a relative, it might have been by an angry client or business associate, or by Mexican drug gangs.  At any rate, I think he was chosen and assassinated.

What better alibi could one have than blame it on an ‘illegal alien’ and race across the border before anyone gets wise?

What the shooter did not count on was the national attention the killing would cause…or maybe he did.  Some people following immigration reform would do about anything to derail legislation which will soon be pending in front of Congress.

An illegal alien is not a drug smuggler!

Drug smugglers, U.S. citizen coyotes and undocumented workers all cross the border illegally.  We use one name for all of them.  Yet, frequently, the coyote and drug smugglers are citizens!  That gives 14,000,000 people a black eye.  We call that a smear campaign, demonizing and discrimination.  This time the discrimination is not race based.  It is based upon national origin.  Just as bad.  Not all Mexicans are bad people…you will find some pretty good guys if you check!

I don’t know who killed Robert Krentz.  Neither does Rep. Kay Granger, of Texas who is having an orgasm over the death and wants congressional hearings, or Arizona Governor Jan Brewer who is thinking about calling in the national guard to protect her border or New Mexico Governor Bob Richardson who did call in the national guard to protect his border.

“There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance—that principle is contempt prior to investigation."  Herbert Spencer.

Let’s let Kay finish having her orgasm or ask her to call 911, both of which will get more results than Congressional hearings.

Let’s ask the governors of New Mexico and Arizona to take a deep breath and then put on their thinking caps, something neither one of them has done in this incident.

Let’s ask everyone to start talking about rational immigration reform in which we strengthen our borders, naturalize those who are already here so we don’t break up families, so we can identify them, so they can get driver’s licenses with auto insurance, and so their children can have a crack at education and a chance to break the ugly bondage of poverty.

Let’s let law enforcement figure out who the creep is that pulled the trigger and let’s ask the lynch mob and the media to stand down.

Well, forget asking the media.  Fox News is going to try to convince you ‘illegal aliens’ are the same as ‘coyotes’ and ‘drug dealers’ and if you want to buy into that bull puckey then this article wasn’t meant for you, best go back to ‘unbiased reporting’ on the boob tube.

Fox news debates immigration reform

Immigration advocates want to know where Colorado Democratic senator Mark Udall is on all of this.  Denver immigration advocates have yet to get a face to face meeting with him despite asking and asking and asking…

Mark’s brother, Tom Udall, who is a senator from New Mexico, calls for a stronger border without mentioning immigration reform.

Maybe Mark has forgotten his Hispanic voting base.  If he has, they will help him remember when it comes time for elections.

Immigrants – Know your rights! Conoce tus derechos! RIFA

Conoce Tus Derechos!

This article is in Spanish first, then re-printed in English below it.

Why not print out the article and pass
it along to your friends in the
immigrant community?

English Version

It is important for all people, especially immigrants, to know their rights.

The fourth amendment to the US Constitution allows each person to claim certain rights.  One of the rights, for example, is the right to remain silent.  A person in custody must disclose their identity, they do not have to give more information than that.  They do not have to make a statement they are or are not in the country legally, nor do they have to say how they came into the country.

The immigration law is complicated.  Any statement made can be used against that person in a court of law or an immigration proceeding.  As a result, it is best not to say anything.

One should take a general attitude of cooperation.  Tell the investigating officers you want to cooperate but you want to see an attorney first.

If the officers keep trying to get you to talk, keep repeating the phrase:

"I am happy to cooperate but I want to talk to
my attorney first."

One should be courteous in asking for their attorney.  However, one should not change his mind.  Ask to see an attorney and don't bend from your request.  Don't discuss the case even if they offer to let you go home if you will just talk.  That is the quickest way not to go home!
